Are you an artist looking for a rural retreat, residency, shop space or beautiful studio? Contact us and let's talk!
The Roosevelt School was built in 1918 and designed by eminent architectural firm Trost & Trost. It was used as the Magdalena elementary school, or part of it, until the 1990s. At some point the original domes at the front of the building were replaced with gables. The schoolhouse was revived for awhile as the vibrant Roosevelt Arts Center and then sat empty for many years.
We plan to maintain the building's history in education and art as the Roosevelt Elementary Arts Center with art studios, residencies, an artist marketplace, a central communal space / gallery & gift shop.
There is plenty of cleaning and painting and re-invigorating to do as we gently restore this beautiful building!
