Join us for our seasonal community salon series

Salons are either evening, or often, all day events. Each Soup & Story (formerly Soup & Cinema) event has the same 3 elements:

  • Soup: We make the soup and other vittles all hand crafted with traditional home-kitchen culinary methods.
  • Story:  Story or film screening with community inquiry in the culture of sustainability.
  • Salon: talk, sing, share, learn

Simple Ritual for Us Common Folks:

Join us for a simple sweet new moon ritual to celebrate the coming of Spring. Spring is a wonderful time of the year to bring in the ritual of enjoying nourishing teas and foods that lift the spirit. This ritual is intended to be simple and inviting for all involved. Please bring one item that makes you happy about the arrival of spring. Let’s create together and share in the refreshing bounty of this beautiful season.

Sunday March 25  :: Plant Visions – Medicine for the Revolution

Join us for a couple hours for a short presentation on the history and healing uses of sacred indigenous plant medicines like Ayahuasca, Cannabis, Datura, Psillocyben Mushrooms and Peyote. Followed by Q&A.

Saturday March 24 :: Sally Fallon’s Traditional Diets

It is likely to be a rainy Spring Sunday, so get ready to cozy up and get inspired with Sally Fallon’s Nourishing Traditional Diets – an amazing tour through the travels and discoveries of Weston A. Price. If you are interested in the world’s sacred and fermented foods you will love this event. The viewing will be punctuated with a taste of traditional foods from the Tierra Soul Urban Farm Kitchen. So come hungry and leave your bag lunch at home!

We have a batch of lacto-fermented hibiscus lemon soda brewing just for the event. We will begin with overnight oats served with butter and cream, local honey, Tierra Soul Farm fresh goat milk yogurt and lacto-fermented berry syrup. Breakfast will also include Rugelach (a cream cheese pastry based cinnamon roll). For snacks we will serve liver paté, basil yogurt Lazy-Lady cream cheese, homemade yogurt dough crackers with lacto-fermented hibiscus lime soda. Lunch will be fresh veggie and bacon quiche or frittata and a big ole pot of Soup.

Soup: TBA (but you know it will be made with slow cooked bone broth and topped with creme fraische)
Cost: Adults: $75, Kids two-twelve: $25, includes on-site childcare. Babes in arms are welcome and free

Power of Community, How Cuba Survived Peak Oil

Join us in viewing one of the films that tipped our balance, inspired us beyond belief and set the underpinnings of Tierra Soul in motion. A couple facts turned everything around for us. In Havana, a city of 2.2 million people, 50-80% of the food consumed in the city is grown and produced in the city! On top of that, in Havana they found that the smaller the farm the more productive it was per acre. These two facts got us all fired up and excited to see what we could do with our super-small urban farmette. The rest is history as they say…
