Maybe you met me at a conference, or heard an interview, or read an article I wrote… or maybe someone sent you.
Whatever the case, you are most welcome.
If you have made it this far, you are probably seeking a new paradigm, something a little different from the standard of careand the protocols of therapy or the diagnosis of disease. If you are a member of a marginalized category or community (most all of us are), you are beginning to witness the world awakening to the fact that the problem isn’t just with you, the marginalized, but with the dominant system and those who are consciously, as well as inadvertantly, complicit in it. You are looking for a remembrance, a sacred healing practice, a collaboration, a release and a deeper awakening.
Me too.
Myth Mending is an ancient and innovative, powerful and efficient process of trauma resolution, curative story, ancestral lineage repair, ceremonial practice and nervous system re-imprinting. It is a process for resolving trauma, recovering presence and finding your (and the world’s) deeper healing story of the past, but also the future. The rupture that so often follows trauma in our current world is not a universal and necessary reality. Traumatic rupture is a result of our current dominant paradigm – its deconstruction and removal of the Indigenous and embodied ceremonial arts practiced by initiated individuals and communities as a whole. Our global ancestral cultures and the ceremonies that went with them were protective and must be restored.
Tīciyōtl is the Nahuatl word for the Indigenous medicine of the Mexica people and their descendants. Here, the word medicine does not come from the Latin and does not refer to the diagnosis and treatment of disease based on the scientific medical model. Rather it is closely related to the realms of soothsaying and divination. It lives in the context of Indigenous ways of knowing and being that are connected to all things (even those considered to be non-living by the western paradigm). Tīciyōtl is non-hierarchical, non-linear, non-binary, relational, poetic, emotional, personal and process-based. Tīciyōtl is anart. That means we work together with all things. I am your fellow traveler, not your superior. We will work in spirals toward internal (body, psyche, soul) and external (oppressive structures, cultural restoration, global recovery) transformation.
Myth Mending is also, and primarily, rooted in Indigenous tīciyōtl, in the theory and practice of the traditional “return to ourselves” Earth-medicine. In particular, I work with the Temazcalli, Limpias, rebozo sobadas, dream-craft (temictli and temixoch), and other curative arts as embodied in the present through my personal experience and calling.
I have learned these arts mostly from regular people as well as brief relationships with Indigenous Elders and teachers. I honor, without claiming apprenticeship or lineage, Tela Star Hawk Lake (Yurok – moonblood), Cher Bear Lyons (sweat lodge), David Forlines (Quileute – plant medicine, cultural restoration), Basil Brave Heart (Lakota – ceremony to open the path for me to find my Indigenous lineage), Michael Paul Hill (Apache – coming of age ceremony), Tonita Gonzales (Xicana – temazcalli), Rita Navarrete Perez (Mexican – temazcalli, sobadas y hierbas), Dayana Paz (Mexican – temazcalli), and Francesca Mason Boring (Shoshone – constellation ceremony).
Myth Mending, as I practice it, is also based in part on the work of Hippocrates, Plato, Carl Jung, Peter Levine, Gabor Maté, Rudolf Steiner, Bert Hellinger, James Hillman, Arny Mindell, David White, Pam England, and Whapio Diane Bartlett. In learning from these teachers, I acknowledge both their contribution to the art and science of transformation and their debt to Indigenous people who supplied, often without specific community or individual recognition, much of the material upon which their work is built.
Within the western paradigm, I have trained as a Somatic Experiencing practitioner, Family Constellation facilitator, Theater of the Oppressed facilitator, and Nutritional Therapist. I have also trained in Anthroposophy, Craniosacral Therapy and Processwork as well as a Birth Keeping, and Death Midwifery. I am a doctoral candidate in Interdisciplinary Studies at the University of British Columbia. I work with Indigenous girls, women and mothers in restoring ceremonial practices of birth and mothering. I also have an MA in Depth Psychology with a concentration in Community Psychology, Liberation Psychology and Eco Psychology from Pacifica Graduate Institute.
Myth Mending takes place within a simple conversation carefully slowed, tracked, tenderly repaired and integrated. Sometimes it is done one on one in sometimes in a group.
Myth Mending is a profoundly efficient and powerful way to get to the root of things and make a deep inner shift, one that echoes outward into your life and the world.

In our work, Krista has been an amazing guide and teacher, but she has only been guiding me to places I already Know, only been teaching me the way to get there on my own. This work has re-taught me my own ability to Know life, wholly and without doubt or fear. I always suspected there was something to Know, but my cynical/ignorant mind had given up. Myth Mending has given me the opportunity to move through life confidently and quit the torture of trying to “figure it all out.” ~ Josephine Hammond, mother of 3
Krista delivered a true gift
She really listened to us, not only what we said verbally, but all that was unsaid, the stuff that really only existed in our hearts. Krista created a really safe and supportive space to talk openly. She was genuinely excited about our project, a basic cleaning company, and rather than churn out just another generic cleaning site, she listened, intuited and came up with something unique, warm, inviting and fun. We put our dream in her hands and she delivered a true gift to us. ~ Cecilia Flor, The Tidy Gnomes
Follow your heart’s desire
This has really helped me step into doing my true work without questioning it. She validated my ideas by making them clear and real. It was as if she were walking ahead, laying out a path for me to step into my true calling, the one that has always been there waiting for me. Krista also taught me that it’s okay to be soft and vulnerable; it doesn’t take away from one’s personal power and ability to follow your heart’s desire. My piece of sadness that came up during the process was honored and even made an asset in how I can share my gifts with others. ~ Nina Jackson, The Indie Cottage Dream Studio
Wise woman of the tribe
I’ve experienced deep and beautiful changes in just a few sessions working with Krista. Her intuitive and heart-centered approach is gentle and genuine, guided by a belief in the wisdom that the body never lies. Krista brought her kind spirit, vast knowledge and desire to grow personally to every meeting, guiding me gently and capably. She truly is a “wise woman of the tribe,” a healer who is part of the community she serves. ~ Ann Dorn Seregow, Publisher of Seattle Natural Awakenings
Speechless
I’m speechless as to say how this class has warmed my heart, opened me to new ideas and given me some good ol soul searchin’ understanding. As well as confidence that there are other women out there who share the same inspiring beliefs and struggles. Thank you, immensely. I’m just so grateful for the ideas and feelings we’ve all shared, or kept to ourselves but experienced together. This has really been somethin’ rad and totally a mystery school. I’ve always wanted to be an activisty member of our life community, but nothing until this really really fit the bill and rocked the gut like a good morning lullaby. ~Alexi Bernard, Birthkeeper
A beautiful space
Krista held a beautiful space for me. A space free of anyone’s judgments, fears or preconceptions… except my own. In holding that space she gave me the opportunity and gentle guidance to look at these and walk through them. I came out on the other side feeling more committed and surrendered. The work we did was simpler than I expected, but profound in it’s simplicity. I experienced the complete solidification of trust in my own intuition, my ability to make it through anything, and renewed faith that, whatever the outcome, my baby was meant to be born in this way (breech). ~ Liselle Vetsch, Mama of two
Immediate and apparent and intense
I liked the actual feeling of healing in my body. It was immediate and apparent and intense. The three biggest benefits have been the reassurance and awareness that I am where I need to be, a great feeling of calm and relaxation, and feeling ready to finally leave behind debilitating patterns and stories that no longer serve me. Krista is truly amazing. ~ Abra Ann Stolte
Warm, compassionate and human
First of all, I adore Krista! She is so warm, compassionate and human. I always feel very free to express myself both mentally and physically when I’m around her. I just love how whole I felt after the work we did in just two weeks. I feel like I found some very useful tools that I can use during other stressful or anxiety provoking times. My immediate impression is that I feel calmer, and that is HUGE! I felt a real sense of completion after the work we did. I appreciated that the techniques didn’t always dive right into the most painful experiences or memories, but gracefully danced around the edges thereby healing the more core pain. ~ Lucinda Bowman, Speech Pathologist
Crucial to my development
Being able to talk to someone who really understood the struggles that come as you move through the midwifery journey was extremely helpful. Also having someone who was unbiased and non judgmental regarding experience etc. was heart warming. I was surprised with how much trauma I still had stored and how it was affecting me moving on in my practice. I have been able to clarify where I stand. Krista was wonderful to work with. Unjudgemental, flexible and supportive. She didn’t rush the process allowing plenty of time for me to move through my emotions and thoughts but also made sure that our time together was well worth our while and resources. It was a great experience.~ DyAnna Gordon, Midwife[/fusion_modal][fusion_button link=”” color=”custom” size=”” stretch=”” type=”” shape=”” target=”_self” title=”” button_gradient_top_color=”#6ab7af” button_gradient_bottom_color=”#6ab7af” button_gradient_top_color_hover=”#6ab7af” button_gradient_bottom_color_hover=”#6ab7af” accent_color=”” accent_hover_color=”” bevel_color=”” border_width=”” icon=”” icon_position=”left” icon_divider=”no” modal=”whatothersaresaying” animation_type=”0″ animation_direction=”left” animation_speed=”1″ animation_offset=”” alignment=”” class=”” id=””]What Others are Saying . . .[/fusion_button][fusion_separator style_type=”none” top_margin=”10px” bottom_margin=”10px” sep_color=”” border_size=”” icon=”” icon_circle=”” icon_circle_color=”” width=”” alignment=”center” class=”” id=”” /][/fusion_builder_column][fusion_builder_column type=”1_1″ layout=”1_1″ background_position=”left top” background_color=”” border_size=”” border_color=”” border_style=”solid” spacing=”yes” background_image=”” background_repeat=”no-repeat” padding_top=”” padding_right=”” padding_bottom=”” padding_left=”” margin_top=”0px” margin_bottom=”0px” class=”” id=”” animation_type=”” animation_speed=”0.3″ animation_direction=”left” hide_on_mobile=”no” center_content=”no” min_height=”none” last=”no” hover_type=”none” link=”” border_position=”all”][fusion_modal name=”FAQ” title=”Frequently Asked Questions” size=”large” background=”” border_color=”” show_footer=”yes” class=”” id=””]
Are you a licensed therapist and what is Myth Mending?
No. I am not a licensed therapist. Myth Mending simply assists the human organism to connect with its natural healing momentum. It assumes the essential integrity and wholeness of each individual. I have consciously avoided engaging in paradigms that diagnose and treat disease and mental illness. I don’t do the healing. I facilitate you doing that yourself – with support and witnessing.
Will you work with me if I am mentally ill?
I do not acknowledge the symptoms and syndromes of mental illness except in resisting them and participating in a global effort to remember the ancestral truth that mental illness is caused by western civilization and it’s attachment exclusively to “head” knowledge, its eradication of indigenous ways of knowing and continued denial of its debt to global victims (including itself) of colonialism in all it’s forms. I see grief itself as healing and despair and delusions the conditions of our current civilization. I never diagnose or treat mental illness. Instead I seek to support wholeness and repair for all as well as changing the structures of systematic oppression of certain groups.
What happens in a Myth Mending session?
Springing from a clear intention, a typical session starts with a simple conversation. Together we will carefully allow and track the organic emergence of the thing calling for attention. Slowly, efficiently and respectfully we will untangle the constellation in question and, frame by frame, re-imprint and re-integrate, the pieces of the story using all of the senses and psyche.
Is our work together confidential?
Myth Mending is quite different from traditional therapy in that we won’t be going over and over all the details. You get to be fully expressed without feeling like you are giving me lots of tricky information about yourself or your relationships. Also, I am committed to seeing everything you tell me through the sacred lens of the deepest truest story as it emerges so that, in a way, I keep things confidential even from myself.
