Join us for this midwinter salon as we delve into the practicalities and the mysteries of death and dying. Contemplate your own death (or of those you love) and prepare with joy and grief the incredible rite of passage of death….. with every sacred stitch of your final earth garment.
According to at least one tradition, when we are born we touch the earth and when we die we kiss it…. perhaps with the final passion of a lover, or the light-filled gesture of a seeker…. perhaps it is a tumultuous and quaking departure…. We cannot know for sure our destiny, but we can actively prepare for it as we gather to create our own final ceremonial attire.
What music will be played? What poems spoken? Where will you be laid in honor?
How do you want to die? after months of technological measures, or simple surrender….
There is no right answer, but the collective inquiry, as we stitch by stitch imbue our shrouds with the honest, authentic and soul searching truth of our hearts, we will begin to see what it is we do want for ourselves as we approach life’s completion.
Everyone will leave with a hand made, soul crafted, personal Burial Shroud for themselves, or perhaps for a partner or loved one. We will guide you through the design, and preparing, stitching and adorning your shroud while viewing, listening to, and sharing death wisdom.
Join us and see for yourself the magic of facing Death rather than running from it in fear or denial. We are told by the Elders of ancient cultures that facing Death is the only way to have Life herself released fully to us. Whether young or old, the power of the threshold beacons us deeper into being and belonging.
